Spoilers Ahead!
Stranger Things delivers an incredibly heartfelt third season.
The story arc was arguably their best one yet. While it did lack the mystery aspect of the first two seasons, it heavily made up for it due to its darker tone and more emotional moments. It also leaves the right amount of questions unanswered and sets up a very intriguing 4th season, that could potentially be the final season, I'm still hopeful for a 5th season but I am not getting my hopes up.
The character development was a strong aspect of the season. Seeing all of the kids grown up was very sad, but it fits the show's themes about growing up. Getting Erica, Lucas' sister, involved more in the plot was excellent. Watching Hopper play the role of the protective father was also a great addition to the series.
The acting was powerful, and the younger stars are getting much better with their acting as they get older. The standout actors this year were David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Dacre Montgomery, and Winona Ryder, hoping some of them get Emmy nominations.
The humor and one liner's in this season was drop dead funny. The scene when Steve and Robin are drugged made me laugh so hard I almost cried.
The emotion in this was the best of the whole season. The scene where Hopper died (Though that is still up in the air, whether he is dead or not) nearly brought me to tears. Then seeing the Byers family and Eleven, who was adopted by Joyce Byers after Jim Hopper's death, leave and say goodbye to all their friends, though Mike and Eleven still planned on continuing their relationship and would be seeing each other very soon ,was a huge punch in the gut. Then seeing Eleven read the note that Hopper planned on reading to her and Mike Wheeler concerning growing up and their relationship was another punch in the gut. The death of Billy was sad as well, largely due to you finding out about his past, and him dying a hero while protecting Eleven from the Mind Flayer.
Overall, Stranger Things delivered an incredible third season that featured some punch in the gut emotion, strong character development, some genuinely scary moments, laugh out loud humor, setting up an intriguing and possible final season, leaving the right amount of questions unanswered, and powerful performances from David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Dacre Montgomery, and Winona Ryder, that will thrill new and old fans of the show.
