Major Spoilers Ahead!!!!
The Karate Kid franchise will never die!
The series' story line, while still featuring some forced drama, and a little too much language, benefited from its sense of nostalgia, and setting up an emotional and intriguing season 3. Kreese taking control of Cobra Kai and turning Johnny's students, except for Miguel, against him was not something I saw coming. Hopefully, due to the tease at the end, Ali will return next season.
The characterization was the strongest aspect of the season. Kreese's return and backstory was definitely the highlight of it. How Hawk turned out was sad, but you saw it coming. Johnny and Daniel continued to let the past interfere with their personal lives. Miguel, after having a critical accident, is in a sticky situation in terms of what he needs to do with his life. Robbie and Samantha hit a turning point in their relationship, which felt way too forced. The return of Johnny's old biker gang was incredible.
The action scenes were better shot, choreographed, and had a great musical score to go with them. The best fight scenes were Johnny Vs Kreese, Johnny Vs Daniel, and the all out school fight between Daniel's students and Johnny and Kreese's. Whoever was the person in charge of these fights, needs a huge raise.
The acting was powerful as well. The standouts were Martin Kove and Jacob Bertrand. Whoever cast these kids needs a huge raise as well.
Overall, despite some forced drama and some unnecessary language, season 2 of Cobra Kai improves on everything that the first season did, and features a great buildup for season 3, sense of nostalgia, plenty of emotion, awesome character development, stunning pot twists, better shot action scenes, an excellent musical score, and strong performances from Martin Kove and Jacob Bertrand.
Out of 100% I would give it...
80% out of 100%
